How to import documents into your existing mnk database
My Notes Keeper can import various file formats:
- RTF (Rich text format), Normally used by Windows Word Pad.
- TXT (Plain text format) Text that doesn't contain any formatting as the name says.
- TXT (Unicode text), Text in Unicode format without formatting.
- HTML, Like a web page.
- DOC, Microsoft Word format (only if you have MS Word installed)
- WRI, Microsoft Write
- My Notes Keeper can also import the complete database of Treepad & Keynote.
Lets see how we can Import documents.
- I want to import a DOC file into my mnk database. Click on File-Import and Export...
- Because we want to import a DOC file, we have to choose for "Import from other documents and files"

- Don't forget to select the "Files of type". In this case, we will select "Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)" because we are importing a Word 2003 document.
- Browse and Select the document you want to import and click on Open.

- As you can see, on the Tree side, the document name has been imported and created.
And on the right window, the content has been imported.

Exporting your mnk files
When you need to use your notes in other applications you would choose to export your selected note or notes. The application you intent to use for your My Notes Keeper notes must support at least one of the following file formats:
Supported File Formats are:
- RTF (Rich text format), Normally used by Windows Word Pad.
- TXT (Plain text format) Text that doesn't contain any formatting as the name says.
- TXT (Unicode text), Text in Unicode format without formatting.
- HTM, HTML (HTML with style sheets), A more accurate web page format.
- DOC, Microsoft Word format (only if you have MS Word installed)
- WRI, Microsoft Write
You can also choose to make a Stand Alone Ebook of your mnk database. So that you can browse your My Notes Keeper document at any computers with out installing this software 'My Notes Keeper'.

How to export your mnk files as a document
- Click on File - Import and Export...
- Choose "Export data to files"

- You have several choices on how the document will be exported.
- In this example, we will export 1 page (Only the Selected Item).
- The output location is Desktop\temp directory.
- The output will be HTML.
- We don't want a separator line, because it is just 1 page.
- Click on OK when you are done.

- As you can see, the selected document has been created under Desktop\temp directory.

How to export / create an EXE ebook of your mnk database
You can export your mnk database as a Stand Alone Electronic Book, which is called an Ebook.
This Ebook version will be exact the same as your database. But there is no need to install MyNotesKeeper to be able to open and read this Ebook.
It is actually a Stand Alone Program of your own Notes which you can carry on USB sticks or CDroms or any other storage media.
- To be able to make an Exe Ebook of your mnk database , you have to close your database first.
- After closed, click on File-Import and Export....
- Choose Make a EXE e-book & click on OK

- Browse to the mnk database that you want to make an ebook of.
In this case we browse to Test.mnk and click on Open.

- Now we have to save the Test.exe (this will be the name of the ebook). We can save into the same directory. Click on Save.

- After several seconds or minutes (it depends on how big your database is), you get the following window.
Choose OK to view your ebook

- This is the result, you can view this Test.exe database on any Windows system without installation. Also from an usb stick or a cdrom.

How to export your mnk database as a Browser based Website
You can also export your mnk database in as a Browser based ebook. MNK will export your selected files in HTML Format, but it will also make a special Index / Homepage which contains Hyperlinks that point to your exported documents.
- Firs we start again with File - Import and Export... command.
- Choose " Make a Browser-base ebook" and click on OK.

- Choose your output folder
- Choose the items you want to export
- Choose a Title for your website (in this case it will be called " My Notes")
- Click on OK when you are done.

- After exporting, browse to your exported directory location. In this case it is Desktop\Test directory.
- Double click (open) the Index.htm page
- This is the result, a Browser based website / ebook.

How to export / create an CHM based ebook from your mnk database
We often see help files that are created in CHM format. Mostly when we use a program, a manual has been included in the program which you can access with F1 key ( in most cases).
This same CHM format can also be created with MyNotesKeeper.
- Click on File - Import and Export...
- Choose "Make a CHM-ebook"

- Choose your Settings like
- Which Notes To Export
- Window Title
- Language etc...
- When you are done, click on OK.

- Now, choose the output directory and give a name to your CHM file.

- Browse to the output location. Our location is Desktop\Test.
Open the created CHM file.
- This is the result, a CHM ebook file
